E C Canines doesn't offer group classes. Instead, all training is done on a 121 basis, in your own home.
Each situation is completely different and by doing the training in your own home, we can ensure that you get the information you need tailored to the capabilities of both dog and handler.
A variety of 121s are available. These are only a starting point and within each category, there is room for flexibility depending on what you would like to achieve with your dog.
All 121s will require a consultation.
This is a precursor assessment where detailed notes will be taken.
This allows a training plan to be put into place that suits your lifestyle, works with yours and your dogs capabilities and directly tackles any issues that you may have.
This 121 covers all the exercises you need to have basic obedience from your dog.
These include:
Finding Focus in your dog.
Building a Reliable Recall.
Looking for that Loose Lead
Sit, Down, Stand for Fitness
Socially acceptable Meet & Greets of dogs and humans
For the humans we will also cover:
What Positive really means and how to apply it in all interactions with your dog.
Dog Body Language. How it shows what your dog is truly feeling about a situation.
How to build a trusting, two way bond between you and your dog.
Different methods of applying force free training.
How to cope with different stages of puppy/adolescent/adult dogs. Or
What to expect from your rescue and the stages of settling in to a new home.
This 121 focuses solely on Building that Reliable Recall.
With regular sessions, we can take a dog from ignoring you completely to responding every time to the request to return when called.
We will cover basic foundation exercises to encourage the dog to engage and work our way up to environments and situations that would have once been just a dream.
This 121 is focussed on getting your dog to look for that loose lead on a walk
We will work from basic exercises to put the foundation in place for a nice loose lead, to getting out and about with your dog in a relaxed and controlled manner.
This 121 introduces the concept of socialisation.
In the doggy world, socialisation doesn't mean your dog goes to every dog to play.
Socialisation includes careful introductions to different environments, situations, objects, people and dogs.
You will learn how to introduce your dog to new things in a positive way, reducing over excitement or nervous reactions encouraging your dog to explore its surroundings in a calm and confident manner.
Many dogs have an event or situation which can cause difficult behaviours to arise.
These 121s will focus on your dogs specific issues.
Most of these behaviours will require a certain amount of environmental management.
Every dog is different and the journey towards solving it's issues may be long and met with many set backs.
The main aim of these 121s will be to find the underlying trigger for the behaviours, understanding how your dog is feeling towards the triggers and helping your dog to change their perspective towards those triggers.
Behavioural Issues can include
Reactivity (aggression) towards dogs and/or people
Resource Guarding (protecting objects, people, or areas)
Separation Anxiety (Barking or destroying things when the owner isn't home)
This 121 introduces your dog to being washed, dried, brushed and clipped.
Many dogs dislike the process of grooming and at best, shut down and put up with it, at worst become reactive, fighting and biting.
Getting your dog to like each step of the grooming process is important, especially if they are going to require regular grooming at a parlour.
If your dog has a coat that needs regular grooming between parlour visits, This 121 also includes a session with an experienced groomer who can teach you the best way to care for your dogs coat to ensure it's visit to the parlour is as comfortable as possible.
